Stage Works

by E. J. O. Cruxton

Over the last decade, Cruxton has worked on a series of stage works with a group of Birmingham-based collaborators. Between them they have created three operettas (The New SavoyardsThe Cardinal, and The Coalition Kings) and two musicals (Badger! and The Robbing Hood).

These works have been performed by local performance groups (including Birmingham Repertory Opera Company, Walsall Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and The University of Birmingham Gilbert and Sullivan Society) to great success.

If you are a performance group or theatre looking for an exciting new musical work, please contact us. The completed works below are available for licensing and new projects are always welcome. Aside from a licensing quote or performance materials, specimen copies of all completed shows are available to get the gist of the work.

The New Savoyards

A Provincial Operetta in Two Acts

When Dunstable Gilbert and Sullivan Society attempt to stage their first production of The Mikado, a tyrannical director, an affair between the M.D. and leading lady, a stuttering patter singer, a rival production of Jesus Christ, Superstar, and a theatre fire all seem to conspire to thwart their chances of success. But with some luck, and a little Gilbertian plotting, perhaps the curtain will rise on a hit after all.
