Stage Works

Over the last decade, Cruxton has worked on a series of stage works with a group of Birmingham-based collaborators. Between them they have created three operettas (The New Savoyards, The Cardinal, and The Coalition Kings) and two musicals (Badger! and The Robbing Hood).

These works have been performed by local performance groups (including Birmingham Repertory Opera Company, Walsall Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and The University of Birmingham Gilbert and Sullivan Society) to great success.

The New Savoyards
A Provincial Operetta in Two Acts
When Dunstable Gilbert and Sullivan Society attempt to stage their first production of The Mikado, a tyrannical director, an affair between the M.D. and leading lady, a stuttering patter singer, a rival production of Jesus Christ, Superstar, and a theatre fire all seem to conspire to thwart their chances of success. But with some luck, and a little Gilbertian plotting, perhaps the curtain will rise on a hit after all.
